What jig weight should I use for flounder?
Use the lightest jig weight that maintains bottom contact in current. In light current/calm water: 1/4-3/8 oz. In moderate current/wind: 1/2-3/4 oz. In strong tidal current near inlets: 1-1.5 oz. Flounder feed off bottom — too-light jigs that lift off bottom won't be seen; too-heavy jigs that pound bottom can spook fish or impede natural action.
