Q.Spawn Timing & Fishing

What water temperature triggers crappie spawn?

A.

Crappie spawn at 58-65°F, with peak bedding activity at 62°F. They typically spawn 1-2 weeks before largemouth bass in the same lake. Black crappie may spawn at slightly cooler temperatures than white crappie, but the species' spawn windows usually overlap.

Pre-spawn staging starts at 50-55°F at the mouths of spawning coves. Active bedding follows as water hits the trigger range. Spawn calendar pages cover crappie timing.
