What drives the rut here

New York's whitetail rut is fairly uniform across the state's wide latitude range, with the Adirondacks and Tug Hill Plateau running a few days behind the Southern Tier and Long Island. Peak breeding clusters in the second and third weeks of November. The state's DEC publishes rut data based on fetal-rate analysis from harvested does.
