Offshore Fishing Tactics
What is the best time of year to fish offshore in the Mid-Atlantic?
Mid-Atlantic offshore fishing peaks in summer and early fall (June-October) when warm Gulf Stream water pushes closest to shore and major species — yellowfin, mahi, marlin, wahoo — are present in numbers. Spring (April-May) sees early arrivals and gear shakedown trips; winter (December-March) is largely shut down except for limited offshore swordfish and tuna trips at canyon structure.
