Offshore Fishing Tactics
How do I fish a canyon for tuna?
Offshore canyons (Hudson, Wilmington, Norfolk, Hatteras) are deep underwater valleys where upwelling brings nutrients and cool water to the surface, attracting bait and predators. Troll along the canyon walls (steep edge transitions), at the canyon mouth, and along temperature breaks within the canyon area. Chunking with butterfish or sardine while drifting also produces.
