Neaps suit clear-water sight fishing for tailing redfish on flooded flats and certain backwater scenarios. They're typically less productive for current-dependent species like flounder. Tide guide pages cover lunar phase timing.
Tides & Fishing
What is a neap tide and is fishing better or worse?
Neap tides occur during first and third quarter moons and produce the smallest tidal ranges and weakest current. Fishing during neaps can be slower in tidal-current-dependent fisheries (creek mouths, drain bites) but better in some areas where weak current keeps water clearer and bait suspended longer.
