How do I find fish in a new lake?

Start with a topographic map: identify creek channels, points, humps, ledges, and submerged timber. Bass relate to structure year-round. Fish the visible structure first (points, weed edges), then explore deeper structure with electronics. Focus on 3-5 spots to learn well rather than scattering across the whole lake.
