Q.Soybean Production

What soil temperature do soybeans need?

A.

Soybeans germinate at 55°F minimum soil temperature, with reliable emergence at 60°F+. Below 55°F, seed sits in cold ground and risks rot or chilling injury. Sustained 55°F+ soil for several days plus a stable forecast triggers planting decisions. Bean leaf beetle pressure is also higher on early-emerging beans.

Crop calendar pages cover state-specific soybean timing.
